Over the weekend, Gordon Chan entered the ranks of China’s vaunted 200 Million RMB Club. This is the media’s name for directors whose films have grossed over 200 million renminbi in China (about US$30 million) and there’s only five names in it. Zhang Yimou has done it twice, once for HERO and once for CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER. Peter Chan is on it for WARLORDS.
